Hiking to the Top of Mount Batur

On September 10, 2021, a Friday night adventure began at 12 PM. Six of us from Itsavirus, including Andreas, Tegar, Sulthon, Wika, Rani, and myself, decided to hike to the top of Mount Batur.

Getting Ready:

After finishing our work at the office on Friday evening, we needed to gather our things for the trip. We packed flashlights, gloves, jackets, and just enough food and drinks.

My First Time Hiking in Bali:

This was my first time hiking in Bali, and I wasn't prepared for it because I came to Bali for work. After thinking for a bit and researching Mount Batur, I decided to wear hiking sandals instead of regular shoes. I also put on extra clothes and a jacket to stay warm.

The Journey Begins:

We met at Circle K and set out for Mount Batur together. On the way, it started to rain, making us even colder. We had to stop a few times to put on our raincoats and remove our shoes.

Arrival at Mount Batur:

We reached Mount Batur around 2 AM on Saturday, September 12, 2021.

Hiking to the Top:

We officially began our hike to the top. Along the way, we met some new friends, Dewa and Andre. Luckily, Andre had hiked the mountain before and could guide us. Climbing the mountain step by step was challenging at first.

Reaching the Summit:

Finally, we made it to the top. We only realized it when a fellow hiker told us we had reached the highest point. It was an unforgettable moment as we spent the night under the open sky, gazing at the stars.
